The Haldimand/Norfolk Archaeological Regional Project

The Haldimand/Norfolk Archaeological Regional Project (H/NARP) is intended to explore the landscape in both Haldimand and Norfolk County to uncover evidence of settlement patterns of Paleo-Indians and later people who inhabited southern Ontario after the retreat of the Laurentide Ice sheet before the beginning of the Holocene Period.

There is an interest by the general public to know when and how diffusions of people took place and where the first people originated.

Archaeologists hope their effort to piece together this information over time will result in a new growth of interest to support and continue the interest to learn more about the people who lived on this land nearly 10,000 years ago.
